Before, they fed with rice. banana, cooking oil, fish sauce, chicharon, and sometimes none of the above. but they were happy with their simple lifestyle and did not mind being poor at all. my old grand-grand father always telling me their few stories in the fast when my grand-father was a teenager then. He said that my grand father always wanted to stay in the streets (not a stowaway) just to make money of his own way, because for him for quite sometimes, chicken meat or fork meat was already a feast for us.
he manages to do servicing like cleaning a cars, shining of shoes, newspapers and comiksbook vendor, balot (ducks-egg preserves) vendor, cigarettes vendor, a journeyman for short, to be able to send himself to school. He knew that education was his key to achieving his dreams, to become an engineer. He continued to be a working students until college taken only two years because of luck of support. He enlisted himself to the Philippine Air force. He was married at a very young age and went to a vocational school were he can afford to pay as a working student, just to learn more about things he is needed as a family man.
